A Debut That Breaks Boundaries and Bridges Communities
Georgy has arrived. With the release of her debut single, "UNBOXED," the Amsterdam-based artist has not just shared a song—she's presented a powerful manifesto. The track is an intoxicating blend of soul, funk, R&B, jazz, and gospel elements, immediately establishing Georgy as a multi-layered force unbound by genre. This debut is already resonating globally, finding listeners in over 70 countries.
We sat down with Georgy to dive deep into the journey of "UNBOXED," exploring the meaning behind the title, her unique sound, and how her commitment to community shapes her entire creative world.
The Vulnerability That Becomes Power
The title "UNBOXED" immediately suggests freedom and openness. For Georgy, the message is profoundly personal and artistic.
"For me, being unboxed means breaking away from stereotypes and expectations, especially as a Black woman," Georgy explains. "It's about showing all my layers: soft, strong, sensual, bold. Personally, it's stepping into my 30s unapologetically. Artistically, it's saying: this is me, and I refuse to fit into one box."
The single is her introduction to the world, telling the story of a woman who is finding herself again, someone who has turned heartbreaks and challenges into a source of strength and melody.
When reflecting on the process, she noted one of the biggest surprises was how the most vulnerable moments became the strongest parts of the song. "I was surprised how much people connected to lyrics I once thought were 'too personal'. It taught me that vulnerability is actually power."
The core message she hopes listeners carry with them is clear: to feel seen. "To know that it's okay to be layered, to be soft and strong, to be more than one thing at a time. I hope UNBOXED feels like a mirror that says: you're enough, exactly as you are."

"Music Without Borders": The Georgy Sound
Fitting perfectly with the CollabHaven ethos of "Music Without Borders," Georgy's sound is a vibrant fusion that reflects her diverse background. As she puts it, "My music is literally 'without borders.' I blend genres: Soul, Funk, Gospel, R&B; because that's how I was raised: surrounded by different influences."
The creation of "UNBOXED" was a deeply collaborative and family-oriented process. Her father, Ed Boga, arranged and played much of the music, contributing background vocals that brought a "warm live feel." Producer Marvin (MixByMarv) layered in a modern edge. Vocally, Georgy drew inspiration from legends like Angie Stone, Betty Wright, and Solange Knowles, blending it with the intimacy of jazz and the power of gospel. The result is a track that manages to feel both classic and modern.
Georgy's inspiration is also anchored in her home base of Amsterdam Zuidoost. "It's diverse, vibrant, unapologetic," she says. "Here, I've learned that culture and creativity don't just live in museums: they live in the streets, in food, in people's stories. That mix of cultures and resilience is exactly what you hear in my music." She believes this blending can bridge generations and cultures, creating a space where differences connect us rather than divide us.
"It has been an unbelievable journey for Georgy, but the first step into stardom has been finally taken! UNBOXED is a great track with a message that is complex but easy to understand."

The Creative Roles and Community Heart
Georgy is a creator, producer, and performer. When asked about the roles she inhabits, she doesn't hesitate. "Performing feels most natural: being on stage is my home."
However, the greatest challenge, and the role she loves, is producing and shaping the bigger picture. "It pushes me to trust my instincts, to say: this is the sound, this is the story." This drive to shape the narrative speaks to her dedication to her craft and her instincts as a leader.
That leadership extends directly into her community work as the founder of Beats, Books & Bites in the Bijlmer. This "heart project" combines music, storytelling, and food—three things that are powerful connectors.
"For me, being an artist is not just about me on stage; it's about creating spaces for community, especially in Zuidoost," she affirms. "Her vision is to lift others up as she grows."
What's Next? Stadiums and the Debut EP
"UNBOXED" is clearly only the first step in a much larger journey. Georgy confirms that more singles are already on the way, and she's concurrently working on her debut EP, more visuals, and live shows. The development of Beats, Books & Bites is also a continuous priority.
When discussing her biggest dreams, she's aiming high: "To bring my music to international stages and collaborate with artists I admire. Touring around the world in stadiums Baby, ha!"
Finally, we asked what her younger self would say listening to "UNBOXED" right now. The answer was beautiful and affirming: She'd probably hug me and cry first. Then she'd say: "See? I told you not to give up. This is who you were always meant to be".
