Solid Past - "Altijd Op De Grind"

This month's standout release comes from Solid Past. The latest track from Solid Past, titled "Altijd Op De Grind," showcases the duo’s raw and gritty storytelling. Uezurii and Juanrique deliver verses that speak to the realities of hustle and struggle, with the song revolving around themes of financial hardship, the relentless pursuit of success, and staying focused despite distractions.

In the hook, the lyrics emphasize how poverty can lead to crime, with powerful imagery such as "armoede is de moeder van de misdaad" (poverty is the mother of crime) and the need to escape hardships by "plankgas" (going full throttle) on the fast lane of life. The verses, particularly from Uezurii, feature heavy wordplay and a sharp critique of the superficiality present in the current rap scene. He contrasts his own "timeless" flow and dominance in the rap game with others’ outdated and shallow bars. Meanwhile, Juanrique's verse builds on these themes, highlighting his resilience, sharp wit, and street credibility.
